Grafitti my soul

Tag.
Bomb.
Shake.
Clack.

Spray.
Paint.
Shake.
Clack.

I want to get high,
off your paint,
inhale your fumes,
until I faint.

Oh b-b-babe,
please grafitti my soul.

Freestyle your mind,
onto my heart,
cause your cans,
to overkill,
let your words,
speak through art,
grab your ink,
and let it spill.

Tag.
Bomb.
Shake.
Clack.

Spray.
Paint.
Shake.
Clack.

Immortalize,
your name,
cleanse my soul,
oh, repaint,
over the pain,
yeah,
tag my soul,
with your name.

Oh b-b-babe,
please grafitti my soul.

Leave your mark,
at my door,
vandalize my empty core,
show me what,
you’ve got in store,
give it to me baby,
come on now,
I want more!

Oh b-b-babe,
please grafitty my soul.

Paint my soul,
like it’s a wall,
make it colorful,
let each brick shine,
spray yourself,
all over me,
’cause all,
I’ve ever wanted –
is for your grafitti,
to be mine.

About:

Originally written in March 2015. Now part of this week’s #ThrowbackThursday!

It’s been a busy past four weeks for me, that’s why I haven’t been as active as usual on here guys. I’m glad to have chosen this one right here for this week’s Throwback Thursday, it allows me to relive the past a bit. As I’m sitting here, reading this again I can not help but smile and this is also my wish to you: I hope the poem above will make you smile as well.

Cheers,

Prospermind. 🙂

    • Thx!! It definitely has musical potential, though I wouldn’t know how to translate this into music. As I wrote this, there were three or four different kinds of melodies playing in my head, each one interpreting these words in a different way. It was CHAOTIC up there… Weird though, I finished all my spring cleaning yesterday.. how can there be chaos again so fast?! 😀

  5. I like this, was it inspired by Young The Giant’s “Cough Syrup”? The rhythm of your poem sounds like lyrics, and similar to the song’s rhythm, as well as the imagery. I really liked it, I do stuff like that with what I write all the time!

    • Interesting that you thought of this song right away, it sounds pretty nice I just gave it a try. I never heard of them before.
However my inspiration came from sitting around bored at the train station watching all kinds of trains with grafitti sprayed on them passing by. 😀
I’m glad you liked it. Thx! 😉

Oh and thanks for posting the link to this song. I think I like what I’ve heard, I’ll have to go and check out more of their songs. 🙂

  8. Very interesting poem. Bravo!
I used to do a bit of amateur tagging myself (long long ago). My tag name was “FLUX”.
I was just a dabbler though – not a true Graffiti artist. Now when I see it on city walls it just looks ugly and ghetto to me. If it was on my property I would consider it vandalism – not art at all…

(You might change the small typos “epmty core” & “spary yourself” to make a good poem even better.)

It is funny how sexual the whole thing is:
heart-racing, shaking the can, spraying it, feeling the rush.
It is also related to the behavior of dogs who spray to mark out their territory ha ha ha !

Hey Prosper – listen to the end of this Chicano-rock anthem; hope you enjoy:

    • Now, this is a comment I like!! Thank you Andrew for the compliment and thanks for pointing out these typos. Fixed them right away. 😉
I never did a graffiti myself, my brother however is a graffiti artist. I always enjoyed watching him create incredible art with his spray cans. I’m not good with a can, a marker or a crayon. No, drawing or painting isn’t for me. 😀
I love how you’re looking at this piece, I love how you’re seeing it.
How funny, you’re right! Hahaha!! I’m laughing so hard right now, love it!! 😀

      • For the record, I too saw a certain bit of naughtiness in this… (I mean, come on, you KNOW me 😉 )
        “I want to get high,
        off your paint,
        inhale your fumes,
        until I faint.”

        and “grab your ink,
        and let it spill.”

        not to mention
        “Leave your mark,
        at my door,
        vandalize my empty core,
        show me what,
        you’ve got in store,
        give it to me baby,
        come on now,
        I want more!”

I mean, how could I not read this with some level of innuendo? 😉
Lovely song, as always. I wish you could have recorded all these songs chaoticly running through your head…
        XO

  9. This reads like a song. Have you ever thought of making it one? It would flow perfectly.

    • Thank you Staci!
Yes, when I wrote it, I wrote it more as lyrics rather than a poem. However I can not remember the melody I had in mind. I hope one day I’ll be able to add some melodies to my writings. 🙂

Hope you are up and well, it’s been too long since I went and checked out your place. 🙂

      • You’re welcome. Yea, you should put melodies to them. I’ve put melodies to a couple of my pieces and will create some others as well. Who knows, maybe one day I’ll get them recorded. 🙂
I have actually been away from the blogging world since September. Just trying to slowly get back into it now. I was very busy, and then I was traveling for three months.
        Have a great week.
