The Dream.

It was a dream,
that I was dreaming,
I dreamed of you,
like I’ve never dreamed before.

And in this dream,
that I was dreaming,
we flew to the moon,
where we lived before.

In this dream,
that I was dreaming,
I took your hand,
and kissed it once more.

Oh, in this dream,
that I was dreaming,
you were like the stars,
so beautiful so pure.

But then I woke,
so no more dreaming,
of moonlight dancing,
of a love lost,
so long ago.

I look to the moon,
and wish I’d still,
be dreaming,
of this love,
which sadly,
exists no more.

    … because love that is passed leaves behind a tangible loss, that is accompanied by memories of moments, words, things done and said that make that loss even harder to move on from. Those moments when we sit alone and have time to think – even if we look back on it with joy – it is still lost, and the permanency and the reminder of that, I find hard. That was how it made me feel…

      Wow.. thank you for sharing your thoughts on this delicate topic. You’ve said it all beautifully.
      Being reminded on a lost love is never easy and it always stings, even more so if that reminder is a haunting dream and in your dream consciousness you believe it’s all real, but then you wake up, overwhelmed by the realization that it was just a dream, fantasy nothing more. It preys on your mind..

      Yes, it’s just like one of my late followers said: there is no poetry without a bleeding poet.
      I’m glad you like it, though it tells a story of a lost love and heartache, it still manages to put a smile on my face, because it really is a dream of incredible beauty and magic.
